As a UK based active Angel investor, I am interested in reducing risk and maximizing my ROI. My experience has been gained on a hit and miss basis. I have found little unbiased quality advice on being a successful Angel investor.

The BBAA is largely a trade organization and most professional UK Angel networks are geared to gaining fees from the companies they represent.

I became fed up at being treated as a necessary evil. In the credit crunch climate, I felt that real Angels should be treated as VIP's and not asked to pay to watch badly thought out dog and pony shows.

When I discussed this with my colleagues and other Angels, it was agreed that we needed representation. Not another funding network, secretariat, lobby group or local quango.

It was also felt that those involved should not be 'tire kickers', but be actively looking to invest.

Our answer is the Active Angel Association

Our answer is to create the Active Angel Association. A FREE online resource for UK based Sophisticated Investors, High Net Worth Investors and Professional investment advisers.

As a non profit organisation, the AAA relies on donations and sponsorship. It does not undertake deals or funding on its own behalf.

Our main function is the education of UK Angels to help them improve the returns they receive from their SME investments. We also feel that there are a lot of opportunities the new Social Enterprise sector.

The Active Angel Association revolves around this web site, a free E newsletter, e books, surveys, online conferences and sponsored networking events.

AAA is a virtual organisation and will not have full time staff or offices. We are currently discussing achieving extra support and sponsorship from several professional advisors.
